Oxbo offer two primary categories of shaking systems or picking heads: Orbirotor and Dyanarotor. There is not a quick answer to which head style is best–both styles will pick most varieties in most conditions.
The Orbirotor is a patented design that originated with Oxbo (under the Korvan brand). A unique counter balanced weight system creates a circular (orbital, circle) shaking pattern at the end of the rod.
The Orbirotor has been the most popular style of shaking system for any selective market as well as in areas like the Pacific Northwest where the same harvester could be used in raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. The Orbirotor is best suited to plants that produce less vigorous wood and/or less vigor in general. Its more selective design can leave blue fruit in the middle of large, woody plants. However, the new OrbirotorMax head has addressed this issue in many markets. The Orbirotor uses a more flexible/gentle rod material and rods can be green or black. Another consideration: because of the unique weight system and gear box, an Orbirotor head will need to be rebuilt over time.
